You have entered PiqueBu Studios and Piquette Studios - the creative worlds of Gary N. Piquette, Herman R. Piquette and Family. It is a world of original music, video and artwork spanning two generations.
PiqueBu performs music that is at times spiritual, at other times playful and other times serious. This quiescent music could be considered music therapy. The piano and keyboard compositions composed and performed by Gary N. Piquette, PhD could be classified as New Age, Ambient or New Classical. Many of the pieces could be used as background music for film or video. Some people have used his soothing and relaxing music as background while doing busy work at home or business. It has also been used to calm nerves while driving through hectic rush hour traffic, to relax patients recovering from surgery or following a medical procedure. The peaceful and relaxing moods of many of the pieces have also been used during massage sessions. Some pieces have even been known to put babies to sleep! His music has been influenced by George Winston, Liz Story and perhaps by the area of Malibu itself where the Chumash Native people once lived-a very spiritual area where hawks soar and egrets glide by the balcony of his home and the sound of crashing waves is carried on the wind up to where the music is composed-sort of a soundtrack for nature.
PiqueBu also offers compilations of guitar compositions composed and performed by Gary N. Piquette. Having lived in New England, the Midwest and now California, Dr. Piquette's original guitar pieces are influenced by blues, jazz, rock, bluegrass and perhaps a tinge of Celtic in some of the pieces.
Dr. Piquette also has an interest in photography and paintings that captures the beauty of the natural world and calming moments. Some of his photographs are used for the cover art of albums by PiqueBu. He has reworked some of his photographs to create a whole different type of image-almost a painting using digital software instead of brushes. An example of this is the cover art for Moon of Antares and Traversing the Oceans of Titan. Examples of his photography are found on this home page and throughout the website. And in the works there are complete music videos that combine his own video images with his music-and examples of these are represented in excerpt form in the Piano Music and Guitar Music sections of this website.
Piquiescence by PiqueBu is a compilation of soothing music appropriate for meditation, relaxation and massage therapy.
Also appropriate for meditation and massage therapy is the album Embrace of the Blessed by PiqueBu a re-release of music composed and performed by Gary Piquette previously released in 2002.
For those interested in watercolor paintings, there is the artwork of Dr. Piquette's father, Herman R. Piquette who specializes in watercolor scenes of New England and in documenting the various histories of various cultures, aviation and watercraft .
Hopefully, these offerings will at least pique your interest!
